Incorrect Installation Of 146-6692 Primary Fuel Filter/Water Separator Caterpillar

Incorrect Installation Of 146-6692 Primary Fuel Filter/Water Separator

Usage:

ENGINES3116 (4PG4186-4243, 2MR518-604) ENGINES

Problem:

The flexible fuel lines connecting to the base assembly of the 146-6692 primary fuel filter/water separator may be incorrectly fitted. As a result, this primary filter water separator is in parallel with the fuel flow and is ineffective. This means no water separation nor primary fuel filtration which can result in reduced unit injector lifetime.

Solution:

There are numbers on the ports of the primary filter/water separator base assembly. The fuel inlet hose assembly must be connected to the ports marked either with the number "2" or "4". The fuel outlet hose assembly must be connected to the ports marked either with the number "1" or "3".
