NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

------ WARNING! ------

At operating temperature, the steering and brake hydraulic oil tank is hot and under pressure. Hot oil can cause burns.

To prevent possible personal injury, release the pressure in the steering and brake hydraulic system before hydraulic lines or components are disconnected or removed.

Note: The suitable blocks that were placed between the rear axle housing and the rear main frame must remain in place. This will prevent the axle housing from oscillating during the removal procedure.

  1. Drain the oil from the oscillating axle. The capacity of the oscillating axle is 87 L (23 US gal).
