Usage:
Customer Specified Parameters allow a customer to program some engine/system parameters. Customer parameters may be changed repeatedly.
NOTE: Customer Passwords are required to change these parameters.
Refer to Customer Specified Parameters in this publication or use SENR6500 Electronic Troubleshooting Manual (from SENR6505 Service Manual) and SEHS9199 Tool Operating Manual for NEXG4516 Marine Engine Functions Service Program Module (SPM) to read and/or change the parameters when using the Electronic Control Analyzer Programmer (ECAP).
Certain parameters that effect the 3176B Marine Engine operation may be changed through electronic service tools. The parameters are stored in the ECM, NOT in the Personality Module (PM). Any parameter can be read, but passwords are used to protect parameters from unauthorized changes.
There are two categories for parameters.
- * System Configuration Parameters - System Configuration Parameters can be changed only with the proper Factory Passwords.
- * Customer Specified Parameters - Customer Specified Parameters can be changed only with the proper Customer Passwords.
System Configuration Parameters
The following is a brief description of a specific Customer Specified Parameter and the value for Maximum, Minimum, and the Default values. The Default value is the setting which should be programmed if the Customer Specified Parameter is not used.
The minimum engine speed (may be programmed to any value [rpm] between 600 and 750 rpm).
Maximum - 750 rpm
Minimum - 600 rpm
Default - 700 rpm
Used to program engine location (PORT or STBD). This parameter does not affect engine operation. However, it does affect Computerized Monitoring System (CMS) display panel. This parameter is used to display engine synchronization status (i.e. synchronized to PORT or STBD throttle on the CMS display).
During the Trolling Mode operation, the full range travel of the throttle lever will cause the engine speed to change from Low Idle Engine Speed to maximum programmed Trolling Speed.
The Trolling Mode will only be activated by the Electronic Control Module (ECM) when engine speed is within 30 rpm of Low Idle Engine Speed. The Trolling Mode can also be activated when the engine is not running. Maximum Trolling Speed can be programmed to any value (rpm) from 900 to 1200 rpm.
Maximum - 1200 rpm
Minimum - 900 rpm
Default - 900 rpm
Transmission Oil Pressure is monitored and high Transmission Oil Pressure is detected with a programmable Set Point. Transmission Oil Pressure Set Point can be programmed to any value (kPa [psi]), from 700 to 2716 kPa (100 to 388 psi).
Transmission Oil Temperature is monitored and high Transmission Oil Temperature is detected with a programmable Set Point. High Transmission Oil Temperature Set Point can be programmed to any value (°C [°F]), from 50 to 120°C (122 to 248°F).
The engine rating and power range is programmable within a rating family. This feature will optimize the engine power and speed to a vessel and its application.
The ECM utilizes the inlet manifold pressure and engine speed to control the fuel ratio, and thereby maximize engine response while minimizing transient smoke emissions levels. The Fuel Ratio Control can be programmed to three levels.
Level 1 - Nominal
Level 2 - Rich Air to Fuel
Level 3 - Richer Air to Fuel
