3176B MARINE ENGINE ELECTRONIC CONTROL SYSTEM INCLUDES COMPUTERIZE Caterpillar

Connecting the Standard Diagnostic Outputs

Usage:

The electronic control system provides three sinking and three sourcing drivers to annunciate the various conditions. The three sinking drivers are capable of sinking 300 mAmp and the sourcing drivers are capable of sourcing 300 mAmp.

The J1 Customer Connector has diagnostic outputs, which can be used to drive a relay, audible or visual alarm. The Diagnostic Condition Lamp alerts the operator that the presence of diagnostic conditions exist in the system (other than those that use flash codes).

The six different warning outputs alert the operator about engine and marine gear (transmission) conditions. The output to the lamps indicate the following conditions.

* Low Engine Oil Pressure
* High Coolant Temperature
* Low Coolant Level
* Maintenance Indicator
* Transmission Status (high oil pressure and/or high oil temperature)
* Diagnostic Condition

Connecting Diagnostic Lamps

1. Connect from Pin-21 of the J1 Customer Connector to Pin-1 of the Low Oil Pressure lamp. Connect Pin-2 to (+)Battery Bus Bar.

2. Connect from Pin-22 of the J1 Customer Connector to Pin-1 of the High Coolant Lamp. Connect Pin-2 To (+)Battery Bus Bar.

3. Connect from Pin-27 of the J1 Customer Connector to Pin-1 of the Low Coolant Level lamp. Connect Pin-2 To (+)Battery Bus Bar.

4. Connect from Pin-28 of the J1 Customer Connector to Pin-1 of the Maintenance Indicator Lamp. Connect Pin-2 to (-)Battery Bus Bar.

5. Connect from Pin-34 of the J1 Customer Connector to Pin-1 of the Transmission Warning Lamp. Connect Pin-2 to (-)Battery Bus Bar.

6. Connect from Pin-40 of the J1 Customer Connector to Pin-1 of the Diagnostic Lamp. Connect Pin-2 to (-)Battery Bus Bar.
