Valve Springs

Usage:

Remove & Install Valve Springs (Without Removing Cylinder Head Assembly)

Start By:

a. remove Jake Brake

b. remove rocker arm assemblies and push rods

c. remove electronic unit injectors (EUI)

NOTE: The procedure which follows is for the removal and installation of the valve springs without removing the cylinder head assembly.

1. Put the bottom portion of tooling (A) in position on the cylinder head assembly as shown. Install hold-down bolt (1) to hold it in position.

2. Install the remainder of tooling (A) as shown.

3. Tighten the nut on tooling (A) to compress valve springs (2).

4. Rotate the engine to obtain the top center position for the piston for the cylinder in which the valve springs are to be removed.

5. Remove retainer locks (3).

6. Remove tooling (A).

7. Remove rotocoil assemblies (4) and valve springs (5) from each valve.

8. Remove bases (6) from the cylinder head.

9. Repeat Steps 1 through 8 to remove the remainder of the valve springs.

NOTE: The following steps are for the installation of the valve springs.

10. Be sure all parts are thoroughly clean and free of dirt and debris prior to installation.

11. Install the valve springs in the reverse order of removal.

End By:

a. install electronic unit injectors

b. install rocker arm assemblies and push rods

c. install Jake Brake
