Usage:
(1) O-ring, (2) Locking screw, and (3) Spacer.
(4) Torx screws, (5) Nut, and (6) Setscrews.
NOTICE |
---|
A new or remanufactured fuel injection pump may be supplied with the pump shaft in the locked position. The drive shaft of the pump must not be turned without the spacer in position under the locking screw. |
1. Disconnect the battery before the fuel injection pump is removed from the engine.
2. Before the crankshaft is turned or the pump is fitted, place the spacer (3) in position under the locking screw (2) to ensure that the pump drive shaft is released.
3. Set the number 1 cylinder at TC on the compression stroke. Refer to the Systems Operation, Testing & Adjusting, RENR1387, for the correct procedure for setting the number 1 cylinder to the TC.
NOTICE |
---|
Use a second wrench to prevent movement of the high-pressure outlet when the union nut for each fuel injection line is loosened. |
4. Remove the fuel lines, the cables, and the connection for the cold start device from the fuel injection pump. Remove the electrical stop solenoid from the fuel injection pump.
NOTICE |
---|
Do not rotate the crankshaft when the fuel injection pump is not on the engine. The loose fuel injection pump gear may damage the timing case. If it is necessary to rotate the crankshaft, fit the fuel injection pump on the engine temporarily to ensure that the gear is in the correct position. If the fuel injection pump is fitted temporarily on the engine in order to rotate the crankshaft, the locking screw (2) must be released and the spacer (3) fitted. |
NOTICE |
---|
Do not release the nut (5) from the fuel injection pump. The fuel injection pump hub is fitted to the shaft in the factory. This ensures that the fuel injection pump is in the correct position for timing. If the hub is removed, the hub will need to be accurately fitted to the pump by use of special tools. |
NOTE: Do not remove the Torx screws (4) from the timing plate. If the Torx screws are removed and the timing plate is moved, the factory timing position will be lost.
5. Remove the four setscrews (6) and release the gear from the hub of the fuel injection pump.
6. Remove the nuts from the flange of the fuel injection pump.
