140-2588 CAT Data Link Booster

ERROR messages or gauge needle instability on Engine Vision, EMS, or CMS displays could be an indication of a problem with the signal from the ECM to the display unit. The following could be symptoms of a deterioration in the ability of the communications wiring to transmit a complete signal:

* The tachometer needle moves from the current rpm reading to 0 rpm. The unit displays an ERROR message
* All four quad gauges move back and forth in unison with the tachometer
* An error message appears on the main display
* An EE message appears on the tachometer display.

The 140-2588 Data Booster is an external device that improves monitoring system performance in a wide variety of vessel wiring systems.

ECM Connector Pin Locations

1. Turn OFF power to the engine ECM and display module.

2. Remove the ECM connector -Battery pin and reinsert it into pin-3 of the 4-Pin DT Connector B.

3. Remove the ECM connector +8 VDC pin and reinsert it into pin-4 of the 4-Pin DT Connector B.

4. Remove the ECM connector CAT Data+ pin and reinsert it into pin-1 of the 4-Pin DT Connector B.

5. Remove the ECM connector CAT Data- pin and reinsert it into pin-2 of the 4-Pin DT Connector B.

6. Insert the BLACK wire into the ECM connector -Battery pin.

7. Insert the PINK wire into the ECM connector CAT Data+ pin.

8. Insert the WHITE wire into the ECM connector CAT Data- pin.

9. Insert the RED wire into the ECM connector +8 VDC supply pin.

10. Plug Connector B into Connector A.

11. Turn ON power to the Engine ECM and display module.

A CAT Data Link Passive Booster should be connected to the PORT and STBD ECM. Only one CAT Data Link Booster is allowed for each ECM.
