Usage:
This section is provided to assist in the troubleshooting of the hardware functions on the 8400-504 and 8400-510 Digital Min/Max controls. Included in the parameter listings are the fault definitions, flash codes, the J1587 network codes, fault modes, and possible fault causes.
The methods of retrieving the fault codes are listed in the Hardware Troubleshooting section of Chapter 7.
Fault and Warning Summary
Actuator Position OOR - High
Actuator Position OOR - Low
Actuator Calibration Error
Blocked Actuator
Sensor Supply OOR - High
Sensor Supply OOR - Low
Foot Pedal OOR - High
Foot Pedal OOR - Low
Discrete Output Fault
Engine Speed Fault
Engine Overspeed
Fault Actions
Faults may cause any of the following responses, as indicated under each fault below.
Actuator Shutdown Note
An actuator shutdown can have two modes. The first shutdown mode is a 0% actuator command that will drive the actuator to the minimum stop or minimum fuel position. The other shutdown mode is an I/O lock that shuts off the actuator drive current. The actuator will go "limp" and rely on the external return spring to move the throttle to minimum fuel.
Governor Idle Control
This mode disables the foot pedal and only allows the engine to run at the governor idle speed. The PTO (fast idle) can be selected and used.
J1587-1708 Network Codes
The fault codes that may be displayed on a compatible service tool correspond with current SAE J1587 codes.
MID - Message Identification
PID - Parameter Identification Character
SID - Subsystem Identification Numbers
FMI - Failure Mode Identifiers

SAE J1587 Parameter List
The following lists the J1587 parameters supported by the DMMP (8400-504 & 8400-510).
DMMP Control J1587 Fault List
NOTES:
- 1) All faults are reset by turning the DMMP control off.
- 2) OOR = out of range; SD = shutdown; Act = actuator; Min = minimum
- 3) During an Act SD, the actuator output turns off (actuator is "limp").
- 4) During a Min Fuel, the actuator command is zero (driven to minimum stop).
- 5) During an Idle condition, the DMMP control disables the foot pedal and remains in idle.
- 6) Correct faults in the order they are displayed.
- 2) OOR = out of range; SD = shutdown; Act = actuator; Min = minimum
