Usage:
3508 And 3512 Engines
Description of Change: A two-piece guard is now used in the belt guard group for protection of the alternator fan and belts on 3508 and 3512 Engines. The new guard has a different design for increased strength, and gives more complete protection for the components. Also, some changes have been made to the alternator mounting group for installation of the new guard. Formerly, a one-piece guard was used for protection of the alternator fan and belts, and it was possible for the guard to be damaged by vibration and other stresses under some conditions.
Adaptable As: Direct replacement when all the new parts are used together. The new two-piece guard is released as two separate guard assemblies (see the parts chart), but both parts must be installed for replacement of the former guard. The illustrations show the new design and locations of parts in both the belt guard group and the alternator mounting group. As shown, the lower bolt in the alternator mounting group is now installed from the rear instead of from the front.
