Two Fuel Pressure Pumps Are Available To Increase Fuel Pressure

Usage:

All 3208, 3304 and 3306 Engines With Sleeve Metering Fuel System

SUPPLEMENT: 06/20/79

ENGINE NEWS, MAY 23, 1979, PAGE 4.

In the article "Two Fuel Pressure Pumps Are Available To Increase Fuel Pressure", the part number shown for the check valve is wrong. Change 1P2268 Check Valve to read 1P2298 Check Valve.

--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------

Description of Change: Two fuel pressure boost pumps are now available for use in the above engines. Pumps are available for either 12 or 24 volt electrical systems. The boost pump will give a positive pressure in the suction side of the sleeve metering fuel system.

Because pressurized fuel is supplied to the suction side of the sleeve metering fuel system by the boost pump, engine performance will be effected less by long suction fuel lines, fuel lines and fuel filter restrictions and excessive (too much) fuel lift. With pressure instead of a vacuum in the suction side, air can not get in at the fuel line couplings.

Adaptable To: The new parts shown in the chart are adaptable to all 3208, 3304 and 3306 Engines. A Special Instruction, Form No. SMHS7468 is sent with each pump group and has complete information for installation of the new pump groups. A 1P2298 Check Valve is available for parts service of the 6N6 Pump Assembly and the 9N5459 Pump Assembly.
