Make Sure There Is Clearance Between Cylinder Head And Fuel Injection Pump Housing When A New Cylinder Head Is Installed

Usage:

All 1100 Series Truck Engines

When a new cylinder head is installed there is a possibility of interference between the left cylinder head (as viewed from the rear of the engine) and the fuel injection pump housing on some of the above engines. This is only a problem when a 1W2279 or 9N5819 Cylinder Head Assembly is installed on these engines. These cylinder head assemblies are made from a 1W1587 Casting. Some of these castings have had some additional material added to the corner. See the illustration.

During installation of the left cylinder head on these engines, check to make sure there is clearance between the cylinder head and the fuel injection pump housing. If there is no clearance, remove from the cylinder head only the amount of material needed to provide clearance.

There is no interference problem with these cylinder heads on 3208 Engines.
