Fuel Injection Pump on C3.3 and C4.4 (Mech) Generator Sets {1251}

Usage:

C4.4 GLD
Generator Set:
C3.3 (S/N: X3B1-UP; NCC1-UP; N3C1-UP; N3X1-UP)
C4.4 (S/N: NCD1-UP; XYC1-UP; GLD1-UP; N4D1-UP; XYD1-UP; GLE1-UP; NCE1-UP; N4E1-UP; N4R1-UP; N4X1-UP)

There have been a number of isolated instances of issues with the fuel injection pump on C3.3 and C4.4 (Mech) Generator Sets. The issue with the fuel injection pump is that the governor mechanism has worn prematurely due to the fuel not meeting the minimum lubricity requirements. These issues have caused the engine to not maintain a steady state engine speed.

Caterpillar recommends the use of 256-4968 Diesel Fuel Conditioner to improve the lubricity of the diesel fuel. If the lubricity of the fuel is not improved, then the life of the fuel injection pump will reduce.

For the correct fuel specification for your engine, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual.

For further information regarding fuel specifications, refer to Caterpillar Engine Fluids Recommendations, SEBU6251.
