Fuel Injection Lines

Usage:

Remove Fuel Injection Lines

Clean the area around all fuel line connections before removing or disconnecting the lines.

1. Disconnect the fuel injection lines at the fuel injection pumps and at the cylinder heads. Disconnect the left fuel return line from the left cylinder head and from coupling at rear of engine.

2. Disconnect the fuel inlet and outlet lines from the fuel filter base. Disconnect fuel inlet and outlet lines from fuel transfer pump. Disconnect fuel line from fuel shutoff solenoid.

FUEL LINES

3. Remove the fuel return lines clamp at rear of engine. Remove the fuel injection lines and fuel lines as a unit. Plug or cap all lines or openings.

TWO-WRENCH SQUEEZE METHOD

NOTE: When loosening or tightening a fuel line connection on an engine without through the head adapters, always use the one-hand, two-wrench squeeze method as illustrated.

Install Fuel Injection Lines

1. Remove plugs or caps from all fuel lines or openings. Install the fuel injection lines and fuel lines as a unit. Use the one-hand, two-wrench squeeze method to tighten nuts on engines without through the head adapters. On engines with through the head adapters, use 5P144 Fuel Line Socket to tighten the fuel injection line retaining nuts to 30 ± 5 lb. ft. (4.1 ± 0.7 mkg). Install the fuel return lines clamp at rear of engine.

2. Connect fuel line to fuel shutoff solenoid. Connect fuel inlet and outlet lines to fuel transfer pump. Connect the fuel inlet and outlet lines to fuel filter base.

3. Connect left fuel return line to left cylinder head and to coupling at rear of engine.
