Usage:

Problem:
On some 3054 engine timing cover housings (part number 6I-0835), part of the casting may protrude beyond the edge of the lower alternator mounting bracket face. This can prevent the alternator mounting bracket (part number 116-3865) from fitting squarely against the housing.
Solution:
Check that the alternator mounting bracket is mounted squarely to the timing cover housing by trying to insert a feeler gauge between the two parts. If a gap is found between the alternator bracket and the front edge of it's mounting face on the timing cover housing, remove the bracket and file off the protruding part of the casting, replace the alternator bracket (torque bolts to 55N·m).
