Camshaft And Timing Gears

Usage:

(1) Gear for fuel pump and governor drive.

(2) Idler gear for the camshaft.

(3) Gear for the camshaft.

(4) Gear for the accessory drive shaft.

(5) Gear for the water pump.

(6) Gear for the charging unit.

(7) Idler gear for the water pump and charging unit.

(8) Gear for oil pump drive.

(9) Gear on crankshaft.

Gear Timing Procedure

1. Move the No. 1 piston to TC (top center).

2. Remove camshaft idler gear (2).

3. Make an alignment of the marks on accessory drive gear (4) with the outside diameter of oil thrower on crankshaft.

NOTE: If oil thrower is not installed, make an alignment of the "F" mark on crankshaft gear (9) with the "F" mark on accessory drive gear (4).

4. Install a 3/8 in. bolt to hold the camshaft gear (3) so the "V" mark and the bolt are in alignment. Install idler gear (2). Remove the 3/8in. bolt.
