Usage:
All Series G Motor Graders
Description of Change: Rubber belted steps are now used on all Series G Motor Graders. Rubber belts are used as the side members, with steel steps bolted to the belts. See Illustration 1. Some advantages of the this design are:
The top step is located away from the cab platform, in clear view of the operator when entering or exiting the cab.
The rubber side belts are resilient and will return to the original position if the step assembly is contacted by the mold board.
If the rubber belts become damaged or worn at the upper or lower ends, the belts can be trimmed and the steps remounted.
The 120G, 130G, 12G, 140G, and 160G Motor Graders have three steps, while the 14G and 16G Motor Graders have four steps.

Adaptable To: The new rubber belted steps can be installed on all Series G Motor Graders. Illustration 2 and Chart A, show and list the components required to install one rubber belted step assembly on 120G, 130G, 12G, 140G, and 160G Motor Graders. Illustration 3 and Chart B, show and list the components required to install one rubber belted step assembly on 14G and 16G Motor Graders.
For field installation, locate the forward plate (8X1031 or 8X1033 Plate depending on which side of the cab the steps are being installed) at the front of the platform using the existing two holes. Partially assemble the steps with the side belts, top step, and remaining plate (8X1031 or 8X1033). Mark the location of the mounting holes for the plate. Drill two 14.5 mm (.571") diameter holes in the locations marked.
NOTE: If the steps were located further to the rear, there could be interference between the bottom step and the tandem tire when the machine is articulated.
When installing the steps on the belts, the bolts should be installed with the nuts toward the inside of the assembly. This will help prevent the bottom step from being "hooked" by the mold board if interference should occur.
