Core Attrition Policy These components are administered under the REMAN major component core attritioning policy that became effective January 1,1998. This policy requires core returns within specific time limits or risks the loss of the core deposit. See IRM REM97-26, PELE0584 December 1997 and Cat REMAN Newsletter, Issue 16, December 1997 for complete details. Additional Product History Required In order to better understand component life for 797 components, Caterpillar is asking dealers to begin providing component history information when returning 797 major component cores. Dealers are being asked to supply basic core history data with the core to qualify for core credit. The information required is 1) machine serial number from which the core is removed, 2) machine hours when removed, and 3) the date the component was removed. This can be provided on the REMAN Core Credit Request (CCR) or by attaching a copy of the SIMS report documenting the removal of the core from the machine. This SIMS report should be completed as described in the 17 April 2000 Service Magazine, pages 49-55. Core Acceptance Dealers will be able to use the same core inspection techniques they have used for other Off-highway truck components. Inspections for REMAN major components are visual and do not require disassembly of components. Warranty Please consult the applicable parts warranty statement for your area.
