The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.
Problem
The machines listed above may experience head gasket failure. To determine if a head gasket failure has occurred observe the coolant overflow reservoir. If the coolant overflow reservoir shows signs of expansion and is being filled with exhaust gas bubbling, then the head gasket may have failed.
Solution
Do not operate or work on this product unless you have read and understood the instruction and warnings in the relevant Operation and Maintenance Manuals and relevant service literature. Failure to follow the instructions or heed the warnings could result in injury or death. Proper care is your responsibility. |
In the event of failure, replace the failed parts with the same parts and reinstall the components as shown in the steps below.
- Add 30W engine oil to the bolt threads and the bolt shoulder.
- Tighten the cylinder head bolts according to the following procedure:
- Tighten the bolts (1) through (10) to a torque of
35 N·m (26 lb ft) . - Tighten the bolts (1) through (10) to a torque of
108 N·m (80 lb ft) . - Tighten the bolts (1) through (10) to a torque of
180 N·m (133 lb ft) to186 N·m (137 lb ft) .
