Vibration Damper - Remove and Install

Start By:

  1. Remove the fan drive. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, Fan Drive - Remove and Install.


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

  1. Remove set screw (1).

  2. Remove pulley group (2).

  3. Remove key (3).

  4. Remove bolts (5) and pulley (4) from bushing (6).

  5. Remove bolts (7) and damper guard group (8).

  6. Remove bolts (9) and stub shaft (10).

  7. Remove bolts (11) and install Tooling (A).

  8. Install Tooling (B) and attach a suitable lifting device to vibration damper (13). The weight of vibration damper (13) is approximately 90 kg (198 lb).

  9. Remove bolts (12) and vibration damper (13).

  10. Remove bolts (15).

  11. Use a suitable lifting device and remove damper (14) from damper adapter (16). The weight of damper (14) is approximately 54 kg (119 lb).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install vibration damper (13) in reverse order of removal.

  2. Install Tooling (B) and attach a suitable lifting device to vibration damper (13). The weight of vibration damper (13) is approximately 90 kg (198 lb).

  3. Install vibration damper (13).

  4. Apply Tooling (C) to bolts (12) and install. Tighten bolts (12) to a torque of 1150 ± 60 N·m (848 ± 44 lb ft).

  5. Apply Tooling (C) to bolts (9) and install. Tighten bolts (9) to a torque of 1150 ± 60 N·m (848 ± 44 lb ft).

  6. Install pulley (4) onto bushing (6).

  7. Install bolts (5). Tighten bolts (5) to a torque of 47 ± 9 N·m (35 ± 7 lb ft).

  8. Install set screw (1). Tighten set screw (1) to a torque of 19 ± 5 N·m (14 ± 4 lb ft)
