Flywheel Housing - Remove and Install

Usage:

C8.7 CS7

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove turbocharger.
  2. Remove oil filter base.
  3. Remove fuel filter base.
  4. Remove crankcase breather.
  5. Remove flywheel.
  6. Remove crankshaft rear seal.
  7. Remove electric starting motor.
  8. Remove camshaft gear.
  9. Remove fuel injection pump.

  1. Remove oil pan bolts (1) that attach oil pan to flywheel housing cover.

  1. Remove bolts (2) and idler gear (3) .

  1. Remove bolts (4), bolts (5), and flywheel housing (6) .

    Note: Use caution to reduce the risk of damaging oil pan gasket when removing flywheel housing (6) .

Installation Procedure

  1. Install flywheel housing (6) in the reverse order of removal.

  1. Apply tooling (B) to mating surface as shown in Illustration 4 prior to installing flywheel housing (6) .

    Note: Flywheel housing (6) must be installed within 10 minutes of applying tooling (B) .

    Note: Use caution to reduce the risk of damaging oil pan gasket when installing flywheel housing (6)

    Note: Finger tighten bolts (1), bolts (4), and bolts (5) prior to final tightening.

    1. Tighten bolts (1) to a torque of 46 ± 5 N·m (34 ± 4lb ft)

    1. Tighten bolts (4) to a torque of 63 ± 7 N·m (46 ± 5 lb ft)

    1. Tighten bolts (5) to a torque of 42 ± 4 N·m (31 ± 3lb ft)

    1. Apply tooling (A) to bolts (2) and tighten to a torque of 30 ± 3 N·m (266 ± 27 lb in) then tighten bolts (2) an additional 90°±5°
