Usage:
A FLEX-HONE can be used to remove the glaze and make the necessary crosshatch pattern in the cylinder bores of 1100, 3100 and 3200 Series Engines.
NOTICE |
---|
To get the correct surface finish use 240 grit hone (engines with cylinder liners need 180 grit hone). The crosshatch pattern MUST be of the angle shown in the illustration to give the correct piston ring wear and oil consumption. Also, when you have finished the FLEX-HONE operation, you MUST use a 1P5574 Nylon Brush together with a strong solution of detergent and water to clean the grit (particles) from the cylinder bores.
|
NOTICE |
---|
Solvents, diesel fuel, oil and other solutions will not remove this grit. To be sure the bores are clean, check with a white lint-free cloth. If this cloth becomes grey or dark, clean the bore again. See "Procedures and Cautions For Use Of A FLEX-HONE On 3204 And 3208 Engines" Page 5 in the June 5, 1978 issue of Service Magazine for more information.
