Information
Wear a hard hat, protective glasses, and other protective equipment, as required. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry that can snag on controls or on other parts of the equipment. Make sure that all protective guards and all covers are secured in place on the equipment.
Know the appropriate work site hand signals and the personnel that are authorized to give the hand signals. Accept hand signals from one person only.
Obey all local regulations for the disposal of liquids.
Do not allow unauthorized personnel on the equipment.
Unless you are instructed otherwise, perform maintenance with the equipment in the servicing position. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual for the procedure for placing the equipment in the servicing position.
Crushing Prevention and Cutting Prevention
Support the equipment properly before you perform any work or maintenance beneath that equipment. Do not depend on the hydraulic cylinders to hold up the equipment. Equipment can fall if a control is moved, or if a hydraulic line breaks.
Stay clear of all rotating and moving parts.

The 351-0351 Hydraulic Valve Seat Puller Group is used to quickly and safely remove valve seats from cylinder heads. By utilizing collets made specifically for the exhaust and intake insert profile, it will remove the insert without damage to the seat bore or combustion surface of the cylinder head.
This tool is intended for use when batch processing cylinder heads and is best suited for high volume operations. A provision is located in the top of the Reaction Cap to allow the tool to be suspended with a tool balancer.
The 351-0351 Hydraulic Valve Seat Puller Group is to be used with Cat electric/hydraulic pumps and an appropriate hydraulic hose.
Note: CE Compliance requires the use of appropriate CE Compliant power supply and hoses.

To set up the tool for valve seat removal, it is required that the appropriate Standoff and Collet Set is installed.
- Remove the Reaction Cap screws (figure 1). The spring is under slight tension under the Reaction Cap so it may require slight pressure on the Reaction Cap to remove the final screw.

The standoff is attached with four Standoff Screws on the lower surface of the Hydraulic cylinder. Torque screws to 12 ± 3 Nm (8.9 ± 2.2 lb/ft) See Chart A for Standoff and Collet application details.

The installation of the Collet Set may be made easier by utilizing the installation tool shown in Illustration 21.

- Activate the hydraulic pump to remove the valve seat. Observe the pressure on the power supply gauge. Allow the cylinder to fully stroke until the pressure drops. This indicates the seat has been pulled from the bore.

Illustration 19 g03412738 - Lift the insert removal tool off the cylinder head. Slide the plate to unlock the insert removal tool. Slide the insert and the collets back, and remove the insert.
- Repeat the process on the remaining inserts.

Inspection and Maintenance Section
Inspection
- Inspect tooling prior to each use for damage, bending, nicks, burrs, dents, cracks, bent, or worn parts. If damage is found, destroy the tool and dispose of as scrap. Replace damaged tool with new product.
- Inspect the polycarbonate shield for cracks.
- Do not use if any holes are elongated or deformed.
- Do not use if hardware is damaged or missing.
- Inspect the Standoff for deformation. Repair or replace if necessary.
- Have the tool inspected annually by an approved dealership inspector.
Maintenance
The 371-0351 Hydraulic Valve Seat Extractor is shipped with documents that contain information on repair items for the Hydraulic Cylinder. These can be obtained from a local Enerpac distributor or contact Dealer Service Tools.

The following items and the collets and standoffs listed in Chart A can be ordered through the parts distribution system for repair.
Cleaning
Clean the tooling using a non-solvent based cleaner.
Storage
- Store the tooling in a clean, dry location to prevent rust or corrosion. Tooling can be damaged by moisture or high humidity.
- The tool should be stored in the most stable position. Store the tool laying flat, or hanging from appropriate hooks to prevent falling.
Tool Disposal
At the end of the operational life of the tool, destroy the tool and dispose of as scrap.
