Introduction
The problem that is identified in the technical information bulletin that follows does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.
Problem
The HVOF coating on the front and rear suspension strut rods and the hoist rod is pitting or peeling on the machines listed above. After the machines have been cleaned, the coating on the cylinders is absorbing moisture. When the moisture heats up, the coating is being damaged.
Solution
Apply a rust preventative to the rod in order to prevent corrosion, pitting, and spalling to the surface of the rods. The rust preventative reduces the absorption of the moisture by the coating on the rod. Use 1U-8809 Rust Preventative that is Cat 450 Rust Preventative Oil or a similar product to protect the rods.
