This diagnostic code is recorded when the data for the torque that is demanded by the driver is not available on the J1939 Data Link. The data link is not the cause of this diagnostic trouble code.
Note: The illustration for the J1939 Data Link may not represent all of the connections for the components that are on machines that are covered by this manual. Refer to the electrical system schematic for your machine in order to verify the J1939 Data Link connections.
The possible causes of the diagnostic trouble code are listed:
- The feature is not configured in Cat ET.
- The component has an active diagnostic.
Test Step 1. VERIFY THE CONFIGURATION OF THE FEATURE.
- Verify that the following information is correct:
- The parameter is set in Cat ET.
- The parameter is set in Cat ET.
Expected Result:
All of the information is correct.
Results:
- OK - All of the information is correct. Proceed to Test Step 2.
- NOT OK - All of the information is not correct.
Repair: The parameters have not been configured correctly. See the Systems Operation Section, "Programmable Parameters" section of this manual.
STOP
Test Step 2. CHECK THE ENGINE CONTROL UNIT FOR ACTIVE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES.
- Check the Engine control unit for active diagnostic trouble codes for the speed sensors.
Expected Result:
The Engine control unit has active diagnostic codes for the speed sensors.
Results:
- OK - The Engine control unit has active diagnostic codes.
Repair: Perform the procedures for the speed sensors. Verify that clearing the diagnostic trouble codes on the Engine control unit has corrected the problem.
STOP
- NOT OK - The Engine control unit does not have active diagnostic codes for the speed sensors.
Repair: Contact your dealership for possible consultation with Caterpillar. This consultation may greatly reduce repair time.
