The final drive is equipped with a multi-disc parking brake that consists of friction plates and steel plates. The parking brake is applied by spring force and the parking brake is released by reduced pressure oil from the supply line to the travel motor.
The friction plates for the travel parking brake are splined to spindle housing (14) . The steel plates for the parking brake are splined to coupling (12) . Travel parking brake springs (9) force piston (13) for the travel brake to the right, which forces the friction plates and the steel plates together. Forcing the friction plates and the steel plates together function as the travel parking brake.
When a travel function is required, pump oil is delivered through hydraulic line (7) to travel motor (2) . When hydraulic line (7) is pressurized, oil travels through ball resolver (5) to reducing valve (6) . Brake reducing valve (6) reduces hydraulic pressure to the final drive at port "A". This reduced oil forces brake piston (13) to the left. This piston movement relieves spring pressure from the clutch plates which allows free travel of sprocket (11) .
