Before extending or retracting the track frames, be sure to keep all other people away from the machine. Always use two or more people to do this work. Perform machine movements only after getting signals from a signal man. The automatic engine speed control (AEC) switch must be in the OFF position and the travel speed switch must be in the LOW position. Never make a sudden movement of the front equipment. When operating the front equipment, slowly activate the controls with extra care. |

This machine has adjustable track frames that are held in place with pins. Completely widen the track frames when the machine is being operated. Fully retract the track frames in order to transport the machine.
- Remove lock pins.

Illustration 5 g01656916 - While the upper structure remains perpendicular to the track frame, travel the machine forward in low speed. While the machine is forward traveling, extend the hydraulic cylinders for the adjustable undercarriage to maximum gauge.
Note: If any unstable conditions arise during the track gauge adjustment, stop the machine. Repair the stability of the machine before continuing to adjust the track gauge. If machine stability is not attainable, please consult your Caterpillar dealer in order to obtain stability of the load.
- Once the track frame is fully extended, stop the machine.
