Note: Put identification marks on all hoses, on all hose assemblies, on all wires, and on all tube assemblies for installation purposes. Plug all hose assemblies and all tube assemblies. This helps to prevent fluid loss, and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.
NOTICE |
---|
Keep all parts clean from contaminants. Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life. |
Note: Put identification marks on the bellows for alignment and orientation during installation of the bellows.
NOTICE |
---|
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
- Use Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device in order to install turbocharger (11) and bellows (12) . The weight of turbocharger (11) and bellows (12) is approximately 34 kg (75 lb).

The ends of the bellows are very sharp. Injury could occur if the bellows are not handled properly. Handle the bellows by the convolutions. |
Note: Refer to Special Instruction, REHS1728, "Application Guideline for the Bellows" for additional information on handling the bellows.
- Apply Tooling (B) to the threads of bolts (10) . Install bolts (10) . Tighten bolts (10) to a torque of 55 ± 5 N·m (41 ± 4 lb ft).
- Apply Tooling (B) to the threads of the studs. Install nuts (9) . Tighten nuts (9) to a torque of 55 ± 5 N·m (41 ± 4 lb ft).
Note: Discard the nuts after use. Use new nuts for installation.
- Apply Tooling (B) to the threads of clamp (8) . Connect clamp (8) . Tighten clamp (8) to a torque of 12 ± 2 N·m (106 ± 18 lb in).
- Apply Tooling (B) to the threads of clamp (7) . Connect clamp (7) . Tighten clamp (7) to a torque of 12 ± 2 N·m (106 ± 18 lb in).

- Install elbow (5) and the bellows.
- Apply Tooling (B) to the threads of clamp (6) . Connect clamp (6) . Tighten clamp (6) to a torque of 12 ± 2 N·m (106 ± 18 lb in).
- Apply Tooling (B) to the threads of clamp (4) . Connect clamp (4) . Tighten clamp (4) to a torque of 12 ± 2 N·m (106 ± 18 lb in).
- Connect tube assembly (3) . Connect tube assembly (2) . Connect hose assembly (1) .
End By: Install the combustion body group. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Combustion Body Group (ARD) - Install".
