Description of Change: New water pump groups are used on the 3500 and 3500B Engines in these machines. The new water pump groups include a new ring assembly and new seal group. These new components will provide the water pump assembly with increased resistance to damage from shock loads. These shock loads typically occur during shipping, handling, and installation of the water pump.

Adaptable To: The chart identifies the new and former water pump groups for the 3500 and 3500B Engines in these machines. The new water pump groups are direct replacements for the former water pump groups.
The new 166-4376 Seal Group is a direct replacement for the 124-5245 Seal Group in former water pump groups. The new 166-4374 Ring Assembly is adaptable to former water pump groups if a 2.50 ± 0.05 mm (.098 ± .002 in) diameter hole (X) is drilled through the water pump housing as shown in Illustration 2. This new hole will accept the pin (A) of the new ring assembly (1). See Illustration 3. This will keep the new ring assembly positioned with the opening in the ring toward the bottom of the installed water pump. This will allow any fluid the leaks past the water pump seals to get to the water pump weep port.
