Crankshaft

Usage:

(1) Thickness of thrust plates (new) ... 5.461 ± 0.038 mm (.2150 ± .0015 in)

(2) Diameter of the main bearing journals (new) ... 88.880 ± 0.020 mm (3.4992 ± .0008 in)

(3) Diameter of the connecting rod journals (new) ... 76.180 ± 0.020 mm (2.9992 ± .0008 in)

(4) Tighten plugs to a torque of ... 23 ± 4 N·m (17 ± 3 lb ft)

Then "stake" the crankshaft to hold plugs in place. "STAKE" use a center punch and a hammer to change the shape of the holes as shown.

(5) Crankshaft gear:

Do not heat gear to more than ... 315°C (599°F)

(6) End play for crankshaft (new) ... 0.122 to 0.579 mm (.0048 to .0228 in)

(7) Wear sleeve and seal installation:

Remove front and rear seal groups as follows:

NOTE: Seals and wear sleeves cannot be used again, after the seals and wear sleeves are separated.

a. Use the 1U7600 Puller Group to remove the seals.

b. Use the 5P7318 Distorter Group to remove the wear sleeves.

Install front and rear seal groups as follows:

a. Clean the outer surface of the crankshaft with 6V1541 Quick Cure Primer.

b. Crankshaft seals must be installed with the lip of the seal toward the inside of the engine as shown. Make sure the correct seal is installed on each end of the crankshaft.

NOTE: No lubrication is needed to install wear sleeves and seals.

c. Do not separate seals from wear sleeves. Install the seal groups as a unit on each end of the engine as shown with the correct tools.
