Removal Procedure

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.



NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Drain the engine coolant from the engine. Use a suitable container for the storage and the disposal of the coolant.

  2. Remove six bolts (2) and six bolts (3) from the engine oil cooler.

  3. Remove engine oil cooler bonnet (4). Remove gasket (1). Remove gasket (5). Remove adapter (6). Remove the seal on the adapter.

  4. Remove four bolts (9). Remove engine oil cooler (7). Remove the O-ring seals.

  5. Remove adapter (8) and the O-ring seals.

  6. Clean the tubes of engine oil cooler core (7) with a 3.2 mm (.126 inch) rod.
