Typical example of discolored temperature sensor
(A) 233-6131 Temperature Sensor Gp

Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) 233-6131 Temperature Sensor Gp may fail on the machines listed above. The failure can be caused by overheating of the sensor by an external heat source. The temperature due to overheating exceeds the sensor specification and leads to sensor discoloration and thermistor damage.

Solution

Caterpillar is aware of this problem, but an interim repair has not been defined. In the event of failure, replace the failed 233-6131 Temperature Sensor Gp with the same new part.

Note: Use a container with hot water, to heat the sensor as per sensor specification.
