Articulation Area (1) Rod end Zerk fitting (2) Hydraulic cylinders (3) Lug end Zerk fitting (4) Locking pin (5) Vertical pin |
Hydraulic cylinders (2) (left shown) for the steering system are located in the articulation area. The steering system contains two hydraulic cylinders. The steering cylinders and vertical pin (2) in the articulation allow a ±34 degree steering angle.
Left hydraulic cylinder (2) and right hydraulic cylinder receive oil from the hand metering unit. The cylinders are hydraulically interlocked. The cylinders extend and retract in opposition to each other to cause the machine to articulate.
Locking pin (4) can be inserted in the pivot joint to lock the front frame and the rear frame together. The locking pin is shown in the locked position in the above image.
Each steering cylinder has rod end Zerk (1) and lug end Zerk (3). The lug end Zerk is located on the bulkhead plate of the rear frame. A hose connects the lug end Zerk to the bearing in the lug end of the cylinder.
