General Information |
The axle and the drum on the machines are hydrostatically driven. The drive system consists of the following components:
- A piston-type pump with two rotating groups inside one housing
- A two-speed piston-type motor on the drum
- A planetary gear reducer with an integral spring applied, hydraulically released brake on the drum
- A two-speed piston-type motor on the axle
- An axle with a limited slip differential
- A planetary gear reducer with a set of spring applied, hydraulically released brake for each wheel.
The steering pump and fan pump supply charge oil to the propulsion system.

Note: The blue lines in the above illustration indicate an input signal. The red lines indicate an output signal. The red and blue lines indicate two-way communication.
Machine ECM (1) monitors input signals from the following components to control the propulsion system:
- Engine ECM (4)
- Keypad (5)
- Parking brake switch (6)
- Propulsion lever (7)
- Axle speed sensor (8)
- Drum speed sensor (9)
Machine ECM (1) evaluates the input signals and determines if any output signals should be sent to the solenoids.
Machine ECM (1) uses display (10) to provide information to the operator about the propulsion system during operation. If propulsion lever (7) is operating in the REVERSE range, the machine ECM energizes back-up alarm relay (3). If the speed range is set to high, the machine ECM energizes shift solenoid (2).
