ReferenceSpecial Instruction, SEHS0002, "Field Procedure to Improve the Hydraulic Tank on the 793F CMD Off-Highway Trucks"
Description of Change: A manually operated relief valve was added to the steering expansion tank. A mounting block has been added to the hydraulic tank. A new oil filler assembly, a new fill tube assembly, and a new hose assembly are part of the hydraulic tank guard group. The new oil filler assembly attaches to the new block. All of the new parts allow the tank to vent allowing faster fill times.
Adaptable To:
Illustration 1 | g03743662 |
Former hydraulic tank configuration |
Illustration 2 | g03743679 |
New hydraulic tank configuration |
The new 450-3377 Hydraulic Tank Gp (1) supersedes the former 380-9000 Hydraulic Tank Gp in the 380-9010 Hydraulic Tank Gp. The new 8X-5963 Block (7) is part of the new hydraulic tank group.
The new 449-9463 Hydraulic Tank Gp (Expansion) (3) supersedes the former 380-8080 Hydraulic Tank Gp in the 380-9010 Hydraulic Tank Gp. The hydraulic tank group expansion is also called the steering expansion tank. The new 358-9475 Valve As (2) assembles to the new steering expansion tank. The valve assembly is the relief valve that can also be manually operated.
The 337-7777 Hydraulic Tank Guard Gp has been improved. The new 427-9879 Oil Filler As (5), the new 428-7345 Tube As (6), and the new 440-0153 Hose As (4) are part of the hydraulic tank guard group. The new oil filler assembly, and the new tube assembly attach to the hydraulic tank group. The new hose assembly connects the new oil filler assembly to the new 449-9463 Hydraulic Tank Gp (Expansion) (3) to vent the hydraulic tank. Additional parts have been added to the hydraulic tank guard group for the installation of the new parts.
The new configuration is adaptable to machines RBT1-171. The new configuration became effective in production with machines RBT172-UP.
The earlier machines can be updated to the latest configuration. The complete list of material and the correct procedure needed to update the former hydraulic tank group to the current configuration is available. The needed parts are listed in the above listed special instruction, and the update procedure is explained in the above listed special instruction. The special instruction can be found on the Caterpillar Service Information System (SIS). The special instruction is also available through the normal literature distribution system at your local Cat © dealer.
