Transmission and Torque Converter Oil Filter - Remove and Install

- Release the system pressure.

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
- Raise the hood.

Illustration 1 g03656500 - Remove housing (2) and the O-ring seal. Remove Transmission and Torque Converter Oil Filter (1) and the O-ring seal.
- To remove the transmission and torque converter oil filter base, complete the following steps.

Illustration 2 g03656505 - Disconnect hose assemblies (3). Disconnect harness assembly (4).
- Remove four bolts (6) and transmission and torque converter oil filter base (5).

- Install Transmission and Torque Converter Oil Filter (1) in the reverse order of removal.
- If transmission and torque converter oil filter base (5) was removed. Tighten harness assembly (7) to a torque of
15 ± 3 N·m (133 ± 27 lb in) . - Tighten housing (2) to a torque of
50 N·m (37 lb ft) to100 N·m (74 lb ft) using a 1-1/2 inch socket or box end wrench.Note: Do not use open end or adjustable wrench. Do not use air wrench.
- If transmission and torque converter oil filter base (5) was removed. Tighten harness assembly (7) to a torque of
