Removal And Installation
The magneto drive is mounted on the rear of the main oil pump on the right side of the engine.
REMOVING MAGNETO DRIVE (G399 Engine Illustrated)
1-Pin connector. 2-Magneto. 3-Magneto mounting bolts. 4-Bolts (twelve). 5-Magneto drive housing.
1. Remove the magneto (2) by removing two bolts (3) for each magneto.
2. Remove the drive housing (5) after removing twelve bolts (4).
NOTE: The magneto needs to be timed to the engine when installed. Timing involves engine configuration and type of fuel used. See the SPECIFICATIONS and the topic TIMING MAGNETO TO ENGINE.
Disassembly and Assembly
1. Remove large gear (1) from shaft assembly (2) with an 8H700 Puller Assembly and 8B7560 Step Plate.
2. Remove the shaft assembly. Drive bearing (3) from the housing.
3. Remove drive gear (5) with an 8H700 Puller Assembly and 8B7560 Step Plate. At installation coat the threads with 7M7456 Sealant and tighten bolt (4) to a torque of 18 ± 2 lb. ft. (2,5 ± 0,3 mkg).

1-Large gear. 2-Shaft assembly. 3-Bearing. 4-Retaining bolt. 5-Drive gear. 6-Housing.
Assemble in the reverse order of disassembly. When installing bearing (3) use care to drive or press bearing flush with the rear face at the housing bearing bore.
