3176 OEM SYSTEMS Caterpillar

Introduction

Usage:

The testing procedures described in this manual provide an inexpensive method to check the integrity of that part of the truck wiring system which is directly related to the 3176 Electronic Engine System Interface with the Vehicle OEM electrical system. The procedures require only a Multimeter and Breakout "T"s (adapter cables).

This manual addresses only the part of the 3176 Electronic Control System that is OEM installed- the Throttle Position Sensor, Vehicle Speed Buffer, Cruise Control Switches, Service Brake Switch, Clutch Switch, Parking Brake Switch, Diagnostic and Warning Lamp, and Coolant Level Sensor.

Procedures requiring an ECAP or DDT Service Tool are not included in this manual. This includes proper adjustment of the Remote Mounted Throttle Position Sensor, and viewing of the Customer Specified Parameters. See Electronic Troubleshooting, 3176 Diesel Truck Engine, Form SENR5112-01 for more information.
