This Program must be administered either before or after failure.
In either case the decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS43779" as the Part Number
and "7755" as the Group Number. If administered before failure, use "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and "T" as the SIMS Description code.
If administered after failure, use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.

The existing cylinder heads may have a casting flaw which can lead to failure on certain C280-6, C280-8, C280-12, and 3612 Marine and Petroleum Engines. If the cylinder head fails, it can allow jacket water to enter the cylinder or combustion gas to enter the coolant.
In order to allow equitable parts availability to all participating dealers, please limit your initial parts order to not exceed 32% of dealership population. This is an initial order recommendation only, and the ultimate responsibility for ordering the total number of parts needed to satisfy the program lies with the dealer.

****Parts Stock ****
Some C280-6, C280-8, C280-12, and 3612 engines are ordered with extra cylinder heads. Extra 252-5614, 252-5626, and 296-6837 Cylinder Heads were shipped loose. Inspect each cylinder head for the "FW" logo on the air intake runner.
If the head has the "FW" logo on the air intake runner, no further action is needed on the cylinder head. Image1, and Image2 show where this logo can be found.
If the head does not have the "FW" logo on the air intake runner, the cylinder head must be removed from parts stock. Image3, and Image4 are examples of heads that must be removed from parts stock. Refer to the Parts Disposition.

Inspect each cylinder head on the engine. If the head has the "FW" logo on the air intake runner, no further action is needed on that head. Image1 and Image2 show where this logo can be found. If the head does not have the "FW" logo on the air intake runner, the cylinder head must be replaced per the Disassembly and Assembly procedure for that engine. Image3 and Image4 are examples of heads that must be replaced.

***** NACD ***** Hold all cylinder heads that are removed from parts stock for a Parts Return Request (PRR). A Parts Return Request (PRR) will be issued to you through the Send-It-Back process after the claim is submitted. Make sure to list the service letter program number on the packing slip and include the closed work order paperwork.
***** EAME, LACD, and APD ***** Hold all cylinder heads that are removed from parts stock for 30 days for a possible Parts Return Request (PRR). Make sure to list the service letter program number on the packing slip and include the closed work order paperwork.
If a Parts Return Request (PRR) is not issued to you after 30 days through the Send-It-Back process, handle the parts in accordance with your warranty bulletin on warranty parts handling.
