The Deutsch connectors used on the 3176 engines should be visually inspected at the beginning of each connector test. Further details on the visual inspection are covered in the specific connector tests sections in this publication.

If the pins or sockets on the truck supplied wiring are excessively corroded or damaged and need replacement, contact the truck manufacturer for his repair recommendations.

The Caterpillar 4C3406 Connector Repair Kit, or the 1U5803 Connector Repair Kit with a 4C3501 Update Kit, can be used to install new pins or sockets on the existing wires or replace a Deutsch connector assembly (plug and/or receptable).
