PROBLEM
Show/hide table
The emergency stop push button contacts on EMCP 4 control panels on certain 3512, 3512B, 3516, and 3516B Generator Sets, have been incorrectly installed. The generator set will shut down, however the fault alarm will not be logged under Engine Control in the event log menu of the EMCP 4 controller.
The issue can be rectified by relocating the outer emergency stop push button contacts in the assembly. Refer to the attached Rework Procedure.

1. Isolate generator set before commencing any work on the unit. Ensure health and safety requirements are adhered to at all times. Also ensure proper Lock Out-Tag Out procedures are followed at all times while work is being performed on the system. Lock out the generator set before commencing any type of work.
2. To gain access to the contacts of the emergency stop remove the 8 screws (1) securing the EMCP 4 control panel to generator terminal box as illustrated in Image 1.2.1

3. Unclip the switch contacts on the outer edge of the block of contacts (1) as illustrated in Image 1.3.1 and relocate them onto the back of the center contacts (2). There is no requirement to disconnect any of the wiring to complete this rework. An illustration of the switch contacts (1) after the rework is completed can be seen in Image 1.3.2.

4. Place the EMCP4 control panel plate on the generator terminal box and secure with the 8 screws previously removed in Step 2.
With the generating set in standby mode, run a functional test on the emergency stop push button; the alarm will be recorded in both the engine and controller event logs. Clear the generator set area and put system back into service.
