Exhaust Manifolds (Marine Engine)

Usage:

Remove Exhaust Manifolds (Marine Engine)

start by:

a) remove air cleaner housing

1. Drain the jacket water cooling system.

2. Disconnect water line (1) from the exhaust manifold.

3. Remove bolts (2) and (6) that hold the water elbows to the exhaust manifold.

4. Disconnect oil line (7) from the elbow.

5. Remove bolts (3), (4) and (5). Remove the elbow, connector tube and oil cooler bypass valve as a unit from the oil cooler. Install plugs in the openings in the oil cooler.

6. Remove bolts (8) that hold the exhaust elbow to the exhaust manifold.

7. Fasten straps and a hoist to exhaust manifold (9). Bend the locks away from nuts (10) and remove the locks, nuts (10) and the exhaust manifold. Weight is approximately 85 lb. (39 kg).

Install Exhaust Manifolds (Marine Engines)

1. Put 5P3931 Anti-Seize Compound on the threads of the studs that hold the exhaust manifold on and on the threads of the bolts that hold the exhaust elbow to the exhaust manifold. Install new exhaust manifold gaskets.

2. Fasten straps and a hoist to exhaust manifold (1) and put the manifold in position on the engine. Install the locks, washers and nuts that hold the exhaust manifold to the engine. Install the bolts and nuts that hold the exhaust elbow to flange (2) on the exhaust manifold.

3. Connect water line (3) to the exhaust manifold. Install the bolts that hold water elbows (4) and (9) to the exhaust manifold.

4. Remove the plugs from the oil cooler. Put elbow (5), the connector tube and oil cooler bypass valve (6) in position as a unit on the oil cooler. Install the bolts that hold them in place. Install bolts (7) and (8) that hold the oil lines to the elbow and bypass valve.

5. Connect oil line (10) to the elbow.

6. Fill the jacket water cooling system.
