Actuator

Usage:

Disassemble Actuator

start by:

a) remove actuator and exhaust recirculation valve

1. Put identification on wires (1) and then disconnect them from the solenoids.

2. Remove cotter pin, pin (2) and washer. Remove bolts (3) and (4) and make a separation between the actuator and exhaust recirculation valve.

3. Remove solenoids (5) from actuator caps (6) and (7).

4. Remove yoke (8) from actuator rod. Remove bolt (9) to remove cap (6).

5. Remove O-ring seals (11) and piston assembly (10) from cap (6).

6. Use tool (A) to remove snap ring (12). Make a separation between piston and rod.

7. Remove lip seal (13) from cap (6).

8. Remove spring (14) from the actuator body.

9. Remove four bolts (15) and remove cap (7) from the actuator body.

10. Remove O-ring seals (17) and line (16) from cap (7).

11. Remove piston (18) from the actuator body.

Assemble Actuator

1. Put a small amount of clean engine oil on piston (1). Install piston in the actuator.

2. Install O-ring seals (4) and line (2) on cap (3).

3. Install cap (3) on the actuator body with the bolts that hold it.

4. Install spring (5) in the actuator body.

5. Put clean engine oil on the lip seal. Install the seal in cap (6) with tool group (A) even with the face of the cap. Make sure the lip of the seal is opposite the face of the cap.

6. Install rod (7) in piston (9). Use tool (B) to install snap ring (8).

7. Install O-ring seals (10) on cap. Install piston and rod assembly in the cap.

8. Install yoke (11) on rod (7). Install piston, rod and cap as a unit on the actuator body with the bolt that holds it.

9. Install solenoids (12) on the actuator caps. Connect tube to top solenoid.

10. Put exhaust recirculation valve in position on the actuator and install bolts (15) that hold it. Connect actuator linkage with pin (14) and cotter pin.

11. Connect solenoid wire (13).

12. Make an adjustment to linkage from actuator to exhaust recirculation valve:

a) Install tool (C) in inlet port in the exhaust recirculation valve. Turn lever (16) clockwise. Loosen locknut (17) on rod (7). Turn rod (7) out of rod end (18) several turns. Then turn rod (7) into rod end (18) until resistance is felt.

b) Tighten locknut (17) to a torque of 63 ± 13 lb. in. (7.0 ± 1.5 N·m). Remove tool (C).

end by:

a) install actuator and exhaust recirculation valve
