Crankshaft Front Seal

Usage:

Remove Crankshaft Front Seal

start by:

a) remove front cover

1. Remove seal ring from groove of thrower (1).

2. Install tooling (A) on thrower (1). Heat thrower with a torch while pulling on thrower with tooling (A) and remove thrower from crankshaft.

Install Crankshaft Front Seal


NOTICE

Do not install a used seal ring and thrower.


1. Heat thrower to 350°F (176°C). Install thrower on crankshaft, BUT DO NOT INSTALL THROWER BEYOND DIMENSION (X). Dimension (X) is 1.268 in. (32.21 mm). Drive thrower on crankshaft with tooling (A) until front edge of thrower is 1.268 in. (32.21 mm) from front edge of crankshaft.

2. Check the run out (axial eccentricity) of the sides of ring groove in thrower (1) with tool group (B). Total indicator reading must not be more than .006 in. (0.152 mm) as crankshaft is turned.

3. Put oil on the seal ring (2) and in the groove of the thrower. Install spring and seal ring in groove of thrower with word "out" toward the vibration damper and opening in ring toward top of engine.
