Introduction
This chapter describes how the handling and storing of the products of L+S are safely prepared and carried through.
Notes on Handling and Storing
When handling the equipment make sure the carrying capacity of the crane is adequate.
- * Use exclusively approved handling equipment.
- * Carefully attach the gearbox to the crane hook, using the lifting points provided.
When lifting the gearboxes make sure that the handling elements do not cause damage to attachment parts.
- * Store the gearboxes in dry and moderately heated rooms only.
- * Store the gearboxes only in their intended mounting position.
- * Make sure that the set down gearboxes rest immovably.
- * Store the gearboxes only in their intended mounting position.
L+S will dispose of any packing material supplied with the gearboxes when this is returned to the Factory free of charge.
Preservation
Gearboxes supplied by L+S are not filled with oil. The interior of the gearboxes has been protected with Aral Degol LS SAE 40/50 or with Shell S. 7294 SAE 40/50.
The surfaces of external flanges, ends of shafts and flange attachment faces are preserved with TECTYL 502 C.
Storage in Ventilated Rooms
A gear box preserved and packed is protected against rust formation for a maximum period of 24 months after delivery from the Factory when stored in ventilated rooms. If the packing is removed at the place of destination the external preservation must be checked and renewed, if necessary.
Storage Outdoors
When stored in the open, it must be ensured that splash water or similar media cannot damage the external preservation coat or enter the gearbox (gearbox covered by tarpaulin; protected against splash water; located under shed roof).
In this case the internal and external preservation coats have to be regularly checked at 6 months' intervals and if necessary renewed. If all these measures are properly applied, corrosion protection will remain effective for a maximum period of 24 months after delivery from the factory.
Please check all equipment supplies for completeness immediately upon receipt. Any deviations and transit damage must be reported to L + S right away. A written confirmation of such a report is also required.
