Parts Stock
Remove all 9Y0199 Connecting Rod Bearings from parts stock.
Affected Product
1. Remove the oil pan and underframe.
2. Remove and install the connecting rod bearings. Apply a light film of clean engine oil on the crankshaft before installing the rod cap. Lubricate the bolt threads and seating faces of the bolt head with 6V4876 Molykote Paste Lubricant. Tighten each bolt to a torque of 130 ± 7 N·m (95 ± 5 lb ft). Put an alignment mark on each cap and nut and tighten an additional 60 ± 5 degrees (one sixth turn).
NOTE: Inspect the rod and cap for signs of fretting. Heavy fretting or signs of metal transfer is not acceptable and the rod must be replaced. However, staining or minor rust does not require rod replacement.
3. Repeat Step 2 on the remaining rods.
4. Install the underframe and oil pan. Reuse the existing 4P1497 Oil Pan Gasket unless it is cracked or damaged.
5. Stamp 1U near the Serial Number Plate on the cylinder block.
