failure. In either case the decision whether to apply the Program
is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS4632"
as Part Number, "7755" as Group Number, and "96" as Description

Problem

Lubrication to the area surrounding the bridge assemblies and the valve
springs can be increased on certain low speed 3406B Generator Set,
Industrial, and Marine Engines. Increasing the lubrication to these areas
will extend the service life of the components by reducing wear at the valve
guides, at the contact point between the rocker arms and the bridge
assemblies, and at the contact point between the bridge assemblies and valve
stems. Worn parts need to be replaced on engines that have wear beyond
thereconditioning limits.
The new rocker arm assemblies and rocker arm shaft assemblies have additional
holes to direct oil towards the bridge assemblies and the valve springs when
the valves are open. See Illustrations 1 and 2.
NOTE: These parts are not to be used in any engine with a rated speed
of 1400 RPM or higher.

the correct part number for the remanufactured cylinder head.

Action Required

1. Remove both rocker arm groups. Install new 4P5259 Rocker Arm Assemblies
and 4P5261 Rocker Arm Shaft Assemblies.
New 4P5259 Rocker Arm Assemblies and 4P5261 Rocker Arm Shaft Assemblies
have additional holes to direct oil towards the bridge assemblies and
the valve springs when the valves are open. Refer to Illustrations 1
and 2.
2. Refer to Illustration 3 and inspect the seat of all the bridge
assemblies to determine if they should be reused, reconditioned, or
replaced.
NOTE: Refer to the article "Reconditioning of Bridge Wear Seats is
Permitted; Will Prevent Bridge Replacement When Not Necessary",
on Page 6 of the May 1990 Engine News.
3. Reuse, recondition or replace the bridge assemblies as required.
NOTE: If the bridge assemblies can be reused as is, make sure they are
installed in their original locations.
4. If the bridge assemblies can be reused or reconditioned (seat wear is
.015 inch or less), it will not be necessary to replace the cylinder
head. If any of the bridge assemblies require replacement, replace the
cylinder head.
