Extended Storage Procedures

Usage:

All Caterpillar Engines And Marine Transmissions

During periods of extended storage (more than three months without operation), additional protection is needed to decrease the possibility of damage to components. There are several publications available which have procedures and recommendations for the storage and start-up of engines and marine transmissions. These publications have information on the use of VCI (volatile corrosion inhibitor) oil in the lubrication system, the use of cooling system conditioners, and correct procedures to prelube the engines before start-up.

Use the publications which follow to keep damage at a minimum during storage and start-up.

"Storage Procedures For Caterpillar Engines, Generators, And, Marine Transmissions", Form SEHS7392.

"Cold Weather Operation," Form SEBU5338-02.
