Change Made To Installation Procedure For 3N5620 Service Disconnect Spacer Group

Usage:

7271 Marine Transmissions;
6.25"
Bore "
Vee"
Engines Equipped With Flexible Flywheel Couplings

The procedure for the installation of the 3N5620 Service Disconnect Spacer Group has been changed. Reports show that the 7L7524 Bolt and 3K6060 Nut, which are used to hold the halves of the spacer together, have at times, been left in the spacer after the alignment was completed. This bolt and nut can work loose during operation. The real purpose of the 7L7524 Bolt and 3K6060 Nut is to hold the halves of the spacer together during alignment of the engine and transmission or driven flange. For this reason, the bolt and nut must be removed after the alignment procedure is completed. They can then be put in a storage place for use in the future.

Also, for 7271 Marine Transmissions change Step 5 on Page 25 of Special Instruction, Form SEHS7456-01 to read as follows: Put disconnect spacers (8) in position and install bolts (11) finger tight. Use 6F6922 Depth Micrometer (12) to measure dimension (X). Dimension (X) should be as determined in Step 2. Move the engine toward or away from the transmission as necessary until dimension (X) is correct. Install and tighten bolt (13) and nut (14) in disconnect spacers (8). Tighten bolts (11). Remove bolts (13) and nut (14). Put the bolt in a storage place for use in the future.
