3208 Marine Engines (1Z)
Description of Change: A different pipe plug is now used in the turbine housing of turbochargers for 3208 Marine Engines (1Z). The new plug has a thread which permits it to be installed deeper into the hole, so the top of the plug is even with the housing around the hole. Formerly, the top of the plug was above the surface of the housing, and some engines were found where the plug next to the oil filter made contact with the filter assembly.
Adaptable As: The new 9L8412 Plug can be installed as a direct replacement for the former 1B5174 Pipe Plug in either the later 7N6181 Turbine Housing Assembly, or the earlier 6N574 Turbine Housing which is canceled. On any engines where contact is found between the pipe plug and the oil filter assembly, install the new pipe plug.
