New Seal Used In Turbocharger Mounting; Check Mount Casting For Clearance

Usage:

3208 Industrial Engines

Description of Change: An O-ring seal is now used for the oil passage in the turbocharger mounting on the above 3208 Engines. The new seal is made of fluorocarbon rubber, and is expected to control oil leakage better than the metal C-ring seal formerly used.

Where oil leakage at the turbocharger mounting is a problem, check for clearance between the 9N2039 Clamp Assembly (turbocharger compressor) and the 8N802 Turbocharger Mount. Because of factory tolerances, it is possible for contact between these parts on some engines to prevent correct alignment and compression of the metal ring seal between the turbocharger and the mount. Where this condition is found, a small amount of metal can be ground off the 8N802 Mount as shown in the illustration. Do not grind more than 1.5 mm (.06") deep, as shown.

Adaptable As: The new 5P7530 O-Ring Seal is a direct replacement for the former 9N6754 Metal C-Ring Seal, which is canceled.

Modification of 8N802 Turbocharger Mount to prevent contact with 9N2039 Clamp Assembly (Compressor).
